World Heart Day 2020

Our heart is one of the most important organs. It pumps blood throughout our body 24/7 supplying oxygen and nutrients to other areas while keeping us alive. Although we are not physically able to see our own hearts, we must always remember to take good care of it.

World Heart Day is celebrated on September 29th of each year. The theme for this year's celebration is #UseHeart.

This theme encourages people to use their heads, influence, and their compassion to fight heart disease. In addition to these steps, it is always important to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity 5 days a week to keep our hearts healthy!

Here are some fun facts about the heart:

  • Your heart pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood each day

  • Your heart beats about 115,000 times each day

  • Laughing is good for your heart. It reduces stress and gives your immune system a boost, so don’t be afraid to laugh today!!
