You may be hearing about a new type of COVID-19 called the BA.2.86 or Pirola variant that has been making many people sick lately. It has now spread to many countries including the US, Canada, and Spain. Although the Pirola variant seems to spread faster, it isn't believed to make people sicker than the previous versions.
The good news is you can protect yourselves and your family and friends from COVID-19 and other illnesses by washing your hands frequently.
